Hormel Foods against Europe
Hormel Foods, the original manufacturer of this caned meat that
gave its name to SPAM (see the encyclopédie)
was trying to abtain from the European Office of Trade Marks and
Designs that the word SPAM be prohibited from use in commercial
products fighting against unsollicited email.
The Office denied this request - interestingly - basing its decision
partly on a search on Google prooving that the vast majority of
Internet users expect - under the SPAM name - not canned meat but
information about email.

Spam fighters are losing ground
This is the bold statement of InfoWorld after observing the recent
surge in the sheer volume of SPAM in the email (They assert that
90% of email traffic is SPAM - This is an unsubstantiated statement
but it seems very credible indeed).
Despite the eye-catching title, they give a neat view of the current
situation of email bombarded by SPAM.
