News of the SPAM world
Risks of infection
Computers taht have been infected by a botnet
are usually enslaved to support swindling activities starting at
sending SPAM messages and following into phishing attempts
to steal personal information. But there are also some very immediate
risks, like some people learned recently (the hard way). About 100,000
PC infected by Zeus/Zbot had a bad experience in April 2009: The
master of this botnet merely crashed all of his victims computers
(probably after using them to collect confidential financial data
like secret codes and bank web site passwords).

80% of SPAM comes from botnets
While we are on it, the botnets contributed
to the pollution of our mail boxes at the level of 80% during the
month of June 2009.
A major surge from the previous figures.

12% of users tried to buy stuff from SPAM
We now know for sure why we receive so many millions
of SPAM messages in our mailbox: Because it works.
A study from MAAWG shows that Internet users are not
only half dumb, but totally interested in what SPAM promotes. 12%
of them admit that they tried to buy a product discovered thanks
to SPAM.
Does this mean that 12% are not satisfied with their
sexual aptitude?
